Darbar: Tabla duet by Yashwant Vaishnav + Vivek Pandya

Darbar Festival

Image of Yashwant Vaishna and Vivek Pandya performing on stage

When percussion transcends rhythm to become pure conversation .

Prepare to witness an electrifying tabla duet featuring the most celebrated young tabla masters of their generation.

Vaishnav and Pandya – both formidable soloists – unite in a performance that promises to redefine what's possible when hands meet leather and wood. Experience the thunderous intensity of their synchronised kaidas (theme), the mathematical precision of their lightning-fast relas (rhythmic composition) and the playful spontaneity of their improvisational jugalbandi (duet).

This is tabla in its purest form—no melodic instruments, no vocals—just an astonishing complexity and emotional range of percussion elevated to high art.

Age guidance: 5+

This performance will end at approximately 3pm

Produced by Darbar in partnership with the Barbican.
