Steve (15) + ScreenTalk with Tim Mielants, Cillian Murphy, Tracey Ullman, Jay Lycurgo and Max Porter

ScreenTalks

Director Tim Mielants reunites with Cillian Murphy after Small Things Like These with this powerful adaptation of Max Porter’s 2023 novella, plus a ScreenTalk with the team and cast.

In the mid 1990s, head teacher Steve (Cillian Murphy) struggles to keep a reform boy's school afloat. The crumbling manor lacks support, an an overworked and under-resourced teaching staff struggle to prove the support and structure needed to help turn the boys' lives around.

When a documentary film crew come to investigate the institution, Steve's mental health starts to crumble alongside the aging building.

Following the vulnerability and volatility of the young men housed there, Steve is a hard-hitting dig into the reality of when society lets people down, and the mental impact of shouldering too much.

With incredibly powerful performances from Murphy and Jay Lycurgo, following the screening, we are delighted to have Tim Mielants, Cillian Murphy, Tracey Ullman, Jay Lycurgo and Max Porter in for a ScreenTalk.
