Santosh (15)

Santosh stares out of a train into a forest

Young widow Santosh inherits her husband’s job as a police officer in the rural bad lands of India, in this thrilling tale of moral conflict from British-Indian director Sandhya Suri

Quickly taken under the wing of Sharma, a charismatic and commanding older female inspector, Santosh begins an investigation into a low-caste girl’s brutal murder that plunges her into a gritty world of crime and corruption. As Santosh is forced her to confront  the brokenness of the system around her and her own place within it, as and audience so are we.

Already a BAFTA-nominated writer-director, Santosh is Sandhya Suri's debut feature film, shown at Cannes 2024 in Un Certain Regard it received critical acclaim and was selected for both the Sundance Screenwriters and Directors Labs.
