Little Trouble Girls (15)

Members' Screening

Two young girls looking into the distance.

A young chorister finds herself out of tune with tradition as she navigates beliefs, values, and sexuality in this tenderly curious Slovenian debut.

Shy 16-year-old Lucia (Jara Sofija Ostan) joins her Catholic school’s girls’ choir and befriends the popular Ana-Maria (Mina Švajger). However, during a rehearsal trip to a rural convent, her attraction to a dark-eyed man strains their bond and unsettles the group.

With its title inspired by the 1995 song Little Trouble Girl by Sonic Youth, this debut feature from Urška Djukić is a sensuous portrait of a young girl’s sexual awakening.

Often exploring female sexuality in her work, Djukić's short films include Granny's Sexual Life, After the Hunt and Bon Appetit, La Vie! which have been well received in festivals around Europe.
