Four Mothers (15)

Members' Screening

Four mothers and a young man sit around an iPad

A queer up-and-coming novelist balances his career with caring for his ageing mother in this heart-warming comedy drama.

Edward (James McArdle), a talented novelist on the brink of success, has to juggle work with the responsibility of caring for his mother, Alma (Fionnula Flanagan).

As the excitement around his book tour builds, his three friends ditch him to take an impromptu holiday, leaving their mothers in his care. Alone, with four very different Irish mothers this is an uplifting tale of found family, self-discovery and acceptance.

Director Darren Thornton winner of the BFI Film Festival Audience Award is adapted from Gianni Di Gregorio’s 2008 LFF winner Mid-August Lunch
