Community Kite Project: Kimono Kite Making

Play Make Do: A Festival of Fun for All the Family

Five people stand in a line and pose with their kimono kite creations.

Create a beautiful and unique Kimono Kite, ready to take to the skies, at this workshop led by the Community Kite Project.

Discover the fascinating history and story of the Sode (Kimono) Kite before being guided through the materials and techniques needed to craft your own.

For hundreds of years, kites have been central to both childhood and adult games and pursuits. Across the globe, kite flying is synonymous with freedom, the outdoors, imagination, and possibility. Come along and connect with those themes at this engaging and inspiring workshop.

The Community Kite Project believes that fun and imagination are precious commodities and aims to share them with as many people as possible. Founded in 2011, they run kite-making workshops for everyone and anyone.
