India’s Music of Today: Niladri Kumar

Darbar

Niladri Kumar playing the sitar

Indulge in an evening of dazzling sitar playing and evocative romanticism by one of today’s most maverick performers. This is pure Indian classical music, evolved, refined and elementally powerful.

With his signature sitar sound, Kumar works regularly with the biggest names like Shankar-Ehsan-Loy, A R Rahman, Pritam, Louis Banks, Trilok Gurtu, John McLaughlin and Ustad Zakir Hussain. This concert unites Kumar with the astonishing tabla player Satyajit Talwalkar whose playing is marked by his third musical sense and masterful improvisation, based on several generations of knowledge passed to him by his legendary father Pandit Suresh Talwalkar.

Prepare for a programme of brilliant and extraordinary sitar playing as these celebrated performers show sides of evening ragas and talas that will transport you.
