Ichiko Aoba

presents Luminescent Creatures

Composite image of Japanese folk musician Ichiko Aoba

Japanese folk singer-songwriter Ichiko Aoba performs her latest album, Luminescent Creatures alongside 12 Ensemble.

Back after her 2022 London debut, Aoba will be joined by 12 Ensemble once again for what will be her most ambitious production outside of Japan to date. For the first time outside of Japan, Luminescent Creatures will be performed in its entirety, joined by nine musicians on stage and will feature re-arranged versions of many of her iconic compositions.

To listen to Ichiko Aoba is to be drawn into a world as intimate as a warmly lit home but cosmic in scale. Aoba’s latest album, Luminescent Creatures finds her deftly melding the jazz-infused folk of her early albums with the orchestral world building of her 2020 opus Windswept Adan. It is the culmination of a nearly 15-year long career, in which she’s collaborated with Japanese luminaries; Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono, Cornelius, and more.

May contain strobe lighting effects and haze.

Start time: 8.30pm
End time: 10.30pm (no interval)
