Holding Liat (15)

Two people embracing

Kidnapped on October 7, Liat Atzili’s story unfolds through her family’s struggle to bring her home.

On October 7 2023, Israeli-American Liat Atzili and her husband Aviv were kidnapped from their kibbutz, along with 250 others, including twelve Americans.

Caught between international diplomacy and a rapidly escalating war, their family confronts uncertainty, political tensions, and the limits of grief.

Directed by Brandon Kramer and the winner of Best Documentary at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival, Holding Liat creates an intimate space where the complexities of violence, justice, and historical contradictions are brought into conversation.
