Hand to Earth & SHABAKA

Enhanced photo of Australian Ensemble Hand To Earth

A harmony of culture and sound through the blend of Wägilak song and British Jazz. Celebrating the launch of Hand to Earth’s new album Ŋurru Wäŋa (ROOM40).

Premiering a collaboration between one of the UK’s most celebrated jazz artists, SHABAKA, and Hand to Earth, an ensemble with a uniquely Australian collision of ancient and the contemporary music. Fronted by First Nations Wägilak songman, Daniel Wilfred, Korean vocalist, Sunny Kim, David Wilfred on didgeridoo, trumpeter and electronics maestro, Peter Knight, and Aviva Endean on clarinet and harmonic flute.

Celebrate the launch of Hand to Earth’s new release, Ŋurru Wäŋa (ROOM40), which traces notions of home, belonging, and displacement. In this extraordinary meeting, these song lines intersect with SHABAKA’s distillations of Afro-Caribbean fusion, club culture, and various jazz traditions.
