Britten Sinfonia and Jeneba Kanneh-Mason

Mozart & Schubert

A collage of an image of an orchestra and Jeneba Kanneh-Mason

Rising star Jeneba Kanneh-Mason is the soloist in Mozart’s exquisite and lyrical Piano Concerto No. 23.

Britten Sinfonia, directed from the violin by Jacqueline, also perform Schubert’s most Mozartian symphony, filled with grace and invention, Elena Kats-Chernin’s high-tempo opener, and Robin Haigh’s superb Grin. Commissioned by Britten Sinfonia and winner of an Ivor Novello Award, Grin brilliantly conveys the mixture of cheer and menace behind a full-toothed smile, its light and cheerful music, with echoes of Richard Strauss, run through a dark “millennial haze”.

“Jeneba impresses as a pianist of enormous technical resources in service of an uncommonly rich and versatile musical imagination.” – Gramophone

The end time for this performance will be added closer to the date.
