URBANA Raised Village In The Flood Zone by Kashef Chowdhury

Bangladeshi famed architect Kashef Chowdhury joins us to discuss his practice, URBANA, and his climate change influenced projects.

Kashef Chowdhury co-founded the Dhaka based firm URBANA in 1995, leading the practice as solo principal since 2005.  A number of URBANA's projects directly address the effects of climate change on Chowdhury's native Bangladesh.  These include a prototypical cyclone shelter completed in Kuakata in 2018 and a series of projects for communities within the flood zone of the Brahmaputra River that are sited on built up land.

Kashef Chowdhury's talk is presented in association with the Architectural Review.

The Architecture Foundation, in association with the Barbican, presents Architecture on Stage – a programme of talks by the world's leading architects.
