Squish Space

Squish Space Main Image

Squish Space, our free creative play space for under 5s and their families.

The space is designed by artist/designer duo India Harvey and Lisa Marie Bengtsson and brings people together to learn through interaction, collaboration and play. Using a variety of materials and tactile objects, Squish Space is a place to spin, jump, hide, touch and explore.

Squish Space features objects, sounds and visuals that explore ideas of the planet and our ecology. The space aims to examine how we foster a love for the microscopic and the underneath – microbes, mycelium and lichen – prompting the innate human instinct to connect with nature and other living beings. The objects are crafted from recycled materials and include moving image and sound from artists Di Mainstone and Xavier Velastin.

Squish Space is open on selected days each week and has a limited capacity of 40 people (including children); advance online booking is essential.

The space will be cleaned and all objects sanitised every day from 1:30pm – 2:30pm.

Squish Space will re-open towards the end of March 2024. Dates and times will be added once they're confirmed. Please check back later for updates!
