Michael Rother Plays NEU!, Harmonia & Solo Works

+ James Holden

Michael Rother

The legendary German experimental musician Michael Rother performs a cross section of his material, including music from NEU! and Harmonia, alongside his later solo projects.

Guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Michael Rother is a key figure of the innovative music scene originating from Germany in the early 70s. His music has been inspirational for generations of musicians – from David Bowie, Brian Eno, Iggy Pop, Sonic Youth, U2, Radiohead, Primal Scream and beyond. Rother was a member of Kraftwerk in 1971 and formed the legendary bands NEU! and Harmonia before releasing 10 solo albums.

Since the official re-release of the NEU! albums in 2001, Rother has toured the globe and collaborated with numerous musicians and bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and Paul Weller, as well as writing film scores for two feature films. In 2022 he released the album As Long As The Light, his first collaboration with the Italian musician Vittoria Maccabruni.

British electronic music artist James Holden opens the show.
