Opening Night: A Grain of Sand حبة رمل (exclusive mixed-media live performance)

London Palestine Film Festival

A pair of hands touch a piece of fabric

One-woman show based on real events in Gaza. Performed by Sarah Agha, written and directed by Elias Matar, commissioned by London Palestine Film Festival.

In a land where every grain of sand tells a story, Renad, a young Gazan girl, searches for hope amidst shifting sands as her world collapses around her. Armed with only her imagination, she navigates the terrain between life, death, and rebirth. Her quest echoes the lived experience of many people in Palestine and beyond. Will she uncover what she seeks, and what will the sands of Gaza reveal or conceal along her path?

Sarah Agha is an actress, broadcaster, and writer. She has performed at The Globe Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Elias Matar is a director, playwright, and performer. Inspired by his Arab heritage, he adapts myths and stories from Palestine and the wider Middle East into contemporary narratives.

Followed by a conversation with Sarah Agha and Elias Matar.
