Loveplay

Guildhall School of Music & Drama

Pink clouds in the sky

Capturing 2,000 years of love and lust, and the power of human relationships, Moira Buffini’s Loveplay charts the changing fortunes of place, time and people at 29 Trick Street.

Satire and romance thread through darkness and tragedy in a series of interconnecting scenes exploring ever-evolving social conventions from the Romans to the present day.

Moira Buffini brings her usual lightness of touch to this incisive, funny and sharply observed play, directed for Guildhall by Ola Ince.

Loveplay was first produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company, premiered at The Pit, London in 2001

Please note this production contains scenes of a sexual nature including partial nudity, non-consensual sex and sexual violence. It also contains coercive, sexist and abusive scenes. There will be haze and smoking.

‘Buffini’s script is exceptionally well written, with some brilliant comedic moments scattered amongst the darker themes.‘
