Chicken for Linda! (PG*) + Live intro from Wendy Ide, Chief Film Critic of The Observer

Family Film Club

A group of colourful people dance happily down a street, in a pencil sketch animation.

Winner of the Cristal Prize at Annecy International Animation Festival – this zany romp also packs an emotional punch.

When Linda is unfairly punished, her mother Paulette, tries everything in her power to make things right, even promising to cook Chicken and Peppers – a meal that hasn’t been made in their flat since they lost Linda’s father.

But buying a chicken is harder than expected when there’s a general strike on across the country. Not to be deterred, Paulette and Linda manage to liberate a chicken from a local farmyard – but no one really knows what the next step is! And to make matters worse, Linda’s friends on the estate have left the peppers in the oven and the police are on their way!

This exceptional animation is a colourful, manic adventure that also explores big themes like grief, mother-daughter relationships and sibling rivalry. A fantastic find, not released in this country – don’t miss it at Family Film Club!
