Duruflé and Britten

Talented young musicians from schools in the City of Westminster come together to perform a sensational programme for orchestra and choir.

Fervent drama meets rich lyricism and echoes of the Czech folk tradition in Antonín Dvořák’s only concerto for violin, performed by Westminster Music Scholar and member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, Rhys Evans. The choir takes centre stage in a celebration of creation with Benjamin Britten’s jubilant cantata Rejoice in the Lamb, before bringing the evening to a close with Maurice Duruflé’s 20th-century take on Gregorian chant.

Westminster School, the Pimlico Musical Foundation, and the Tri-Borough Music Hub were just one day away from performing together before lockdown hit in 2020. Finally, this long-awaited collaboration comes to fruition in a magnificent showcase of young people’s musical talents.
