Transformation

A Barbican Library Free Foyer Exhibition

A sample of work by the group Richmond Printmakers

Transformation: making the jump from an idea to a work of art.  Richmond Printmakers show how a drawing, a scratch on a piece of metal or a concept can result in a dynamic breath-taking work of art.

The exhibition looks at the many different ways artists create an image from the initial sketch or concept to the finished work.  More than 100 new prints will be on display.  The exhibition brings together an exciting range of image making including lithographs, relief prints, intaglio prints and screen prints.

Sketchbooks and drawings will show how artists’ ideas change and develop in the process of making an artwork.  Some artists extend their explorations into three dimensions such as Artists Books or three-dimensional constructions – even beautiful wearable art!  All this and more at this fascinating exhibition.

There will be a free Meet the Artists event in the library on Saturday 5 August 12 - 3pm, where visitors will have the opportunity to meet many of the exhibiting artists.

NB: the library is CLOSED on Sundays.
