Teach Meet: Teacher and Artist Exchanges Challenging the Curriculum

""

We’re inviting teachers and educators to join us for a conversation about how creativity in the classroom can challenge the restrictions of the National Curriculum.

Focusing on the findings from our Teacher Lab artist and teacher exchanges hear about how we explored climate anxiety using Wotsits, used oracy to unlock the History curriculum and used microphones to inspire PMLD learners.

Join fellow teachers, cultural practitioners, and our staff in a conversation about new approaches from the classroom and beyond.

This free hybrid event will include fun and informal presentations and, an opportunity to connect with other teachers. Join us in person at the Barbican for drinks, presentations, and a complimentary ticket offer to an exhibition or film of your choice or just tune in remotely for the presentations.

Want to present?

Once you’ve booked a ticket, you’ll be sent instructions by email on how to join the online session in the week of the event, if you can’t join us in person. The presentations will start promptly at 5pm so we recommend that you set up your Zoom account in advance. If you’re having issues accessing the event then please contact us at [email protected]

TeachMeets are free networking and practice-sharing events for teachers. Each TeachMeet is themed around a specific topic, and we invite teachers to present on a subject relating to that topic. There are two presenting formats: a seven-minute 'Micro' presentation and a three-minute 'Nano' presentation. Teachers are welcome to share something they are proud of or can talk about something that didn’t go quite as planned.

If you wish to present in addition to attending, please contact [email protected] with ‘TeachMeet Presentation’ in the subject line, with some details on what you’d like to share.

Tickets are free but booking is essential. Produced by Barbican Creative Learning in partnership with Creative Schools
