Reflections on Photography with Jane’a Johnson and Taous Dahmani

Carrie Mae Weems: Reflections for Now

Black and white image of a woman standing with her back to the camera, looking out on to a balcony

A reflection on photography as form with two presentations and a conversation responding to the work of Carrie Mae Weems.

Departing from Carrie Mae Weems’s practice as image-maker, curators and researchers Jane’a Johnson and Taous Dahmani will analyse how the creation and intervention of photography have served Weems and fellow artists to explore different themes around racial identity, power structures, domesticity and social justice.
