Stereotypical Barbie (Margot Robbie) lives in Barbie Land, a perfect pink party paradise. All the Barbies are blissfully happy, knowing that their influence on women in the real world solved their problems and allowed them to co-exist with men as peacefully as the Barbies do with the Kens. Or so they thought, until Barbie wakes up with an existential crisis only a trip to the real world can cure.

Academy Award nominated writer/director Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird, Little Women) crafts a joyfully feminist vision, inviting us to see through the eyes of a Barbie who cannot fathom why a world would exist in which women are treated as anything but equals.
