One Fine Morning (15)

Still from One Fine Morning

Léa Seydoux glistens in Mia Hansen-Løve's latest Parisian tale about a widowed mother, her father, and her lover; as she tries to open herself to love again.

Widowed Sandra lives with her daughter and works as a translator whilst taking care of her father who suffers from the degenerating Benson's syndrome. When she falls into an affair with an old acquaintance, Clément, her head and her heart are pulled in unexpected directions.

Trapped between these two emotionally unavailable men, Sandra treads through the waters of love, all the while trying to open up her own heart.

With a naturalism and true-to-life dialogue reminiscent of the Rohmer days of cinema, Mia Hansen-Løve paints a beautifully lived-in Paris (whilst avoiding clichés), winning her the Europa Cinemas Label Award for Best European Film at Cannes.

One Fine Morning boasts a star-studded French cast of Léa Seydoux, Pascal Greggory and Melvil Poupaud, drifting you into the world of love, lust and loyalty.

Reviews

  • ‘There is such a lovely chemistry between Seydoux and Greggory, and between her and Poupaud there is real erotic languor and romance.‘
  • ‘Hansen-Løve’s work is heartfelt yet profound, emotionally and mentally engaging in ways few films dare to balance. ‘
