Makaya McCraven & London Contemporary Orchestra: In These Times

Part of EFG London Jazz Festival

Makaya McCraven

The prolific American drummer and producer Makaya McCraven performs his boundary-pushing album In These Times in the Hall with the London Contemporary Orchestra, conducted by Robert Ames.

Percussionist and composer Makaya McCraven is one of Chicago’s most in-demand artists whose inventive process & intuitive, cinematic style defy categorization.

His breakthrough 2015 album In the Moment debuted a unique brand of 'organic beat music' that quickly launched him into the vanguard of not only internationally-known jazz artists, but also a niche genre of next-wave composer-producers blurring the boundaries of jazz & electronic music.

Following his impressive debut followed a string of incredible releases including Universal Beings, We’re New Again and Deciphering the Message, his seventh studio album In These Times features several notable guest performances, including Jeff Parker, Brandee Younger and Ohmme’s Macie Stewart.

Support on the night comes from electro-revival dynamo Dawn Richard and multi-instrumentalist Spencer Zahn.

Stage Times:

7.30 - 8pm Dawn Richard & Spencer Zahn (support)

8 - 8.30pm interval
