Song of the Sea (PG) + Show and Tell Intro

Family Film Club

Still from Song Of The Sea

A sumptuous animation inspired by Gaelic folklore, introduced by animation expert Michael Leader.

This delightful adventure tells the story of Ben who discovers his 4 year old mute sister, Saoirse, is a mythical creature called a Selkie. Brought to you by the makers of Wolf Walkers, this wonderful story of family love overcoming the odds, is a big screen must-see.

Before the film, we’re delighted to welcome animation authority and co-host of the Ghibliotheque podcast, Michael Leader, to introduce the screening for us and talk a bit more about Song of the Sea’s unique style. Michael is a leading expert in animation and has co-written two books: The Ghibliotheque Anime Movie Guide and The Unofficial Guide to the Movies of Studio Ghibli; as well as contributing to Sight and Sound, Empire and Little White Lies, in 2021 he was the co-author of an exclusive essay for Cartoon Saloon’s luscious Blu-ray Irish Folklore boxset release.”

Adults can only come if they’re bringing a child, and children can only come along if accompanied by an adult. If you’re over 18, we’re afraid being a ‘big kid’ doesn’t count.
