Charles Lloyd Ocean Trio

Part of EFG London Jazz Festival

Charles Lloyd

After an incredible sold out show in 2021, Charles Lloyd returns to the Hall with his new Ocean Trio comprising of pianist Gerald Clayton and guitarist Marvin Sewell.

The saxophonist, flautist and early global music pioneer, Charles Lloyd has been entrancing audiences worldwide for more than 60 years.

After making his first appearance in the 1960s with avant-garde improvisations, Lloyd entered a state of semi-retirement in the 1970s, during which, he occasionally showed up in The Beach Boys' albums and tour concerts as a touring band member.

Released in 1989, Fish Out of Water, his first album under the roof of ECM, opened a whole new chapter in his career. With the depth of his musical expression reflecting a lifetime of experience he never left the stage again.

Charles Lloyd will be accompanied on the night by Gerald Clayton and Marvin Sewell.

Support comes from Norwegian
saxophonist and composer Mette Henriette.
