Still from Blue Jean

A lesbian gym teacher grapples with homophobia in this defiant drama set in Thatcher's Britain. Plus ScreenTalk with writer-director Georgia Oakley, actor Rosy McEwen, and producer Hélène Sifre.

1988. As the Thatcher government is days away from a decade in power, the spectre of Section 28, a law banning local authorities and schools from 'promoting homosexuality', looms large on the England's queer community.

PE teacher Jean is caught between her public and private life when a new student at her school arrives in need of support that only she can provide.

We are delighted to welcome writer-director Georgia Oakley, actors Rosy McEwen & Kerrie Hayes, and producer Hélène Sifre who will be in conversation with Creative Producer, Mekella Broomberg after the film.
