Two musicians inspired by traditional music of the region, perform an invigorating improvised collaboration in a concert to raise awareness and funds for the Afghanistan crisis.

An outstanding rubâb player – the national instrument of Afghanistan – Homayoun Sakhi plays a classical style which has survived control, censorship and repression throughout times of conflict. Homayoun and others of his generation have taken this traditional music to creative new heights.

One of Europe’s finest tabla players, Shahbaz Hussain is the son of vocalist Ustad Mumtaz Hussain and has studied under some of India’s finest gurus. Also a band leader and prolific collaborator, he has developed an eclectic an versatile style to his playing.

They'll be joined by guest artist Adib Rostami playing kamancheh.

All the proceeds from this concert will be donated to three selected charities: EMERGENCY, Learn and MMCC. Ranging from provision of high-quality healthcare to victims of war, poverty and landmines to providing digital literacy to teachers and young girls, and raising awareness on key issues through education for millions of children, these charities cover the vital needs of millions of people in Afghanistan.
