Penelope Cruz embracing Milena Smit in Parallel Mothers

Pedro Almodóvar presents another intimate portrayal of womanhood in this story of two mothers who give birth on the same day.

Almodóvar is back with another provocative and sumptuous drama that places a female protagonist at the centre. The first, is played by long time collaborator Penélope Cruz, who stars as Janis, a first time middle-aged mother who is thrilled at the prospect. Opposite her is Ana, played by Milena Smit, an adolescent first time mother who is petrified.

Over the course of a few hours, the two exchange few words that are strong enough to transform the course of their lives.
