The Road to Kuthriyar (12A*)

London Indian Film Festival

A still from The Road to Kuthriyar, two men in a forest

An enchanting story of an adventurous young surveyor mapping a remote wildlife sanctuary has his eyes opened when he meets the indigenous tribes people that live in the forest.

Seamlessly blending a dreamily scripted adventure story and documentary style together, Bharat Mirle’s debut feature is not one to miss.

Dhruv, a young wildlife surveyor from the city, is conducting a mammal survey of the 600-square-kilometre Kodaikanal Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu. He enlists the help of his seemingly shifty tribesman guide Dorai. After Dhruv gets into a dangerous situation, the unlikely pair form a strong bond of trust and friendship, and Dhruv begins to see the world and the forest in a whole new light.
