Guildhall String Ensemble

Guildhall cellists

Guildhall School musicians begin the new year in a programme of music composed for strings.

András Keller was appointed Béla Bartók International Chair in recognition of his world-class performing career and services to music in 2018; this evening he directs Guildhall String Ensemble in an exciting programme of music composed for strings.

Beethoven’s String Quartet in F minor was one of three string quartets that Mahler arranged for string orchestra. From Germany to Hungary, we hear Béla Bartók’s Divertimento for String Orchestra followed by Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht, arguably the composer’s most performed piece.

Presented by Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

A recording of this concert will be available to watch online for free after the performances. Watch online from 2 February.
