Vivo (U) + Show and Tell Intro and Performance by Jose Zalba-Smith of Tradicional Cubano and The Mañana Collective

Family Film Club

Animation of purple haired Gabi and Vivo the monkey on her shoulder

When Vivo, the kinkajou monkey, loses his musical companion Andrés, he forms an unlikely partnership with Andrés’ grandniece, Gabi, to deliver one final song to Andrés’ lost love in Miami.

With earworm songs by maestro Lin Manuel Miranda, writer of Hamilton and the Moana soundtrack to name but a few, this is an absolute must-see with a big cinema sound system – you will be tapping your toes and singing along within five minutes of entering the screen!

We’re delighted to welcome musician Jose Zalba-Smith to Family Film Club to chat to us about Cuban music and he’ll also be treating us to a performance of some Cuban tunes.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Jose studied flute and piano at the Alejandro G. Caturla and later at Amadeo Roldan Conservatory. After studying at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, he has been in demand both as a classical player and world music performer. He is a founder of his Latin Jazz band The Mañana Collective and Cuban band Tradicional Cubano, both powerhouses of Latin rhythm!

Adults can only come if they’re bringing a child, and children can only come along if accompanied by an adult. If you’re over 18, we’re afraid being a ‘big kid’ doesn’t count.
