Carla Juaçaba

Architecture on Stage

A big cross structure made from a reflective mirror like material in a nice green park by architect Carla Juaçaba

Carla Juaçaba joins us to discuss her practice, which spans ambitious cultural projects from Rio de Janeiro to Venice.

The Brazilian architect Carla Juaçaba developed her practice in Rio de Janeiro prior to a recent relocation to London. Her office has been responsible for a series of ambitious cultural projects including the ephemeral Pavilion Humanidade 2012 for Rio+20, which was conceived with the theater director Bia Lessa. In 2018 she built one of the Vatican Chapels for the Holy See Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale.  She is currently teaching at Mendrisio Accademia in Switzerland.

The Architecture Foundation, in association with the Barbican, presents Architecture on Stage – a programme of talks by the world's leading architects.
