Truffle Hunters (12A) (AD)

A old Italian man sits at a table and looks at his dog, who is sitting on the table

A heart-warming documentary about the relationship between old Italian gentlemen and their beloved hounds, as they search for one of cooking’s most prized ingredients: the truffle.

Hunting for truffles is no hobby; the best spots for truffles are closely guarded and the key players are all a little set in their ways. The filmmakers, Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw, use the truffle hunters’ charming personalities to the film’s advantage, making sure we know that they know that the hunters are on the eccentric side, and we can enjoy their company with a gentle wink.

Pure canine joy is also here in abundance, as the dogs dedicate their fantastic sense of smell to this ancient pursuit.

Produced by Luca Guadagnino, this is an immersive film that builds a picture of a life,  a place and a community, deeply set in nature.
