The Tragedy of Macbeth (15) (AD)

Depicted in black and white, Denzel Washington as Macbeth and Frances McDormand as Lady Macbeth

Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand star in Joel Coen’s bold and fierce adaptation; a tale of murder, madness, ambition, and wrathful cunning.

Washington and McDormand anchor the latest and most visually dynamic iteration of Shakespeare's Macbeth on-screen. The couple are a late middle-aged in Coen’s faithful yet inventive vision of the tragedy. They are older, warier, more urgently striving against a merciless clock as they seize together upon a final opportunity for power. Then, they unleash carnage.

Along side Washington and McDormand stars Bertie Carvel, Alex HassellCorey Hawkins, Harry Melling, Brendan Gleeson, Moses Ingram and Kathryn Hunter (who embodies the three witches with stomach curdling vigour).
