The French Dispatch (15) (AD)

Still image of actors from The French Dispatch

When the editor of The French Dispatch, an American newspaper based in the fictional French city of Ennui-Sur Blasé, passes away, the staff remember him in classic Wes Anderson fashion.

The latest offering from the visionary director is being described as a love letter to writers, with the elaborately chic film divided like the sections of a newspaper; An obituary, the stories – The Cyclist, The Concrete Masterpiece, Revisions to a Manifesto and The Private Dining Room of the Police Commissioner – and an end note.

Through these highly stylised vignettes Anderson is able to flex the full muscle of his all-star cast, including Timothée Chalamet, Frances McDormand, Benicio Del Toro, Jeffrey Wright, Léa Seydoux, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Willem Dafoe, Christoph Waltz and Saoirse Ronan to name a few.
