Two of Britain’s top singers are joined by leading accompanist Julius Drake and the sublime Carducci Quartet for a chamber concert reflecting on themes of love, loss, nature and nostalgia.

Chausson’s beautiful song cycle Poeme de l’amour et de la mer is a revealing companion to Vaughan Williams's quintessentially English pastoral idyll, On Wenlock Edge. A melting pot of musical ideas and influences, beneath Chausson’s sophisticated French polish you can pick out the romantic influence of Wagner and Berlioz, and early hints of the intoxicating impressionist style Debussy would go on to define.
