Candyman (15)

a man looks into the camera with a terrified look on his face

Are you brave enough to call upon the Candyman? Nia DaCosta resurrects Chicago lore in this horror sequel.

Picking up from the 1992 original film, Candyman follows a young artist Anthony, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, The Get Down) and his partner Brianna (Teyonah Parris) who have recently moved into the now gentrified town of Cabrini.

A place known for its grim and bloody history, Anthony learns the true details of the tale of the Candyman and is keen to incorporate such darkness into his work.

We follow the story where Anthony believes he is learning about the legend only to find that the legend is learning about him.

Directed by Nia DaCosta (Littlewoods, 2018) and produced by Jordan Peele (Get Out, 2017), be careful what you say in the mirror because you're in for a fright.
