Ustad Waseem Khan posing as if singing

Rarely presented together in Indian classical music events, immerse yourself in a double bill featuring both Carnatic and Hindustani music.

Subhalaskmi Akkarai returns to Darbar Festival after her sold out concert in 2014. This time with her sister, Sornalatha, the pair demonstrate their vast repertoire of rich and expressive ragas. Rao and Guruprasad provide a dynamic accompaniment to the sisters as well as performing a short solo.

With the trademark sense of drama learnt from his Agra gharana (school of music), Khan is a leading vocalist in the improvised music of khayal (imagination). Trained from the age of six by his grandfather and stalwart, Ustad Ata Hussain Khan Saheb, and father Ustad Naseem Ahmed Khan Saheb, Khan is known for his velvety, expressive voice. He is accompanied by sarangi master Hussain Khan, and the superb Kulkarni on harmonium. Shahbaz Hussain provides sublime rhythmic support on the tabla.
