A group of women navigate increasing religious and social conservatism in 1990s Algeria.

Set in the 1990s during the Algerian Civil War, which saw a sharp rise in religious fundamentalism, this drama explores how a group of young women use friendship and fashion as a tool for resistance.

The film focuses on Nedjma (Lyna Khoudri), a university student and a talented designer. When the restrictions of moral policing start to tighten around her, Nedjma decides to organise a protest fashion show. She is met with great hostility, but believes it is something she has to do.
