Transatlantic Sessions

Transatlantic Session musicians walking along a loch

Some of today’s finest Celtic and Americana musicians celebrate their shared musical history.

Nearly a quarter of a century on from the Transatlantic Sessions TV series, the live version has become a highlight of the folk music calendar, uniting artists from either side of the pond – breathing fresh life into old favourites and providing new context to contemporary compositions.

Tonight will see the project’s founding musical directors Nashville’s dobro virtuoso, Jerry Douglas, and Shetland’s fiddle maestro, Aly Bain lead an incomparable house band, accompanying a line up of special guest vocalists Gretchen Peters telling stories for the age of Trump and #MeToo; Tim O'Brien bringing the songs of his native West Virginia, California wunderkind Molly Tuttle; the 'gorgeous homesick blues' (Observer) of Cara Dillon and one of Scotland's finest young singer-songwriters, Paul McKenna.

This performance will begin promptly at the advertised start time and running time will be confirmed closer to the event.

As a guide, please note that events usually finish by 11pm at the latest.
