Robocop (18) + presentation by Will Jackson

Science on Screen

Robocop

Paul Verhoeven transports us to a lawless Detroit, where Officer Alex Murphy becomes a cybernetic soldier code-named Robocop.

This cult classic takes place in a dystopian and crime-ridden Detroit and follows a terminally wounded cop who returns to the force as a powerful cyborg haunted by submerged memories.

Will Jackson, founder and director of robotics company Engineered Arts, muses on whether technology is to blame for its misuse. Who are the villains, the machines or their masters?
