Moonstruck (PG) + introduction by Adrian Wootton

Adrian Wootton's Hollywood Legends

Image of Cher and Nicolas Cage

This entrancing romantic comedy features Cher at her most magical, as our smart, sassy, romantically mixed-up heroine – the role for which she won the Best Actress Oscar.

An oh-so-New York story that dazzles from start to finish, featuring Cher as Italian-American widow Loretta Castorini, who is smart with everything but love.

No sooner does Loretta accept a marriage proposal from her doltish boyfriend, Johnny (Danny Aiello), than she finds herself falling for his younger brother, Ronny (Nicolas Cage). She tries to resist, but as Loretta falls deeper in love, she comes to learn that she's not the only one in her family with a secret romance.

Directed by Norman Jewison (In the Heat of the Night), this swoon-worthy rom com features too many iconic moments to count and justly Cher won the Best Actress Award for her performance in 1988.
