Minimalist Dream House

Minimalist Dream House ensemble

Sisters and acclaimed pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque are joined by Bryce Dessner and David Chalmin as they perform premieres and recent Minimalist works.

The Labèque sisters have had a long-standing fascination with Minimalism – featuring both pioneers and current torchbearers of the genre on their 2013 album, also entitled Minimalist Dream House. They continue their minimalist exploration here, once again drawing a line between the past and present with a programme that features work by the likes of David Lang and Caroline Shaw as well as a new composition specially written for this series of concerts by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke.

Minimalism developed in 1960s America as a genre that was new and experimental, while also being clear, honest and melodious. Through constant repetition, the radically simplified musical language unleashed new energies and became influential in genres ranging from krautrock and pop to techno and post-classical.

This performance will begin promptly at the advertised start time and running time will be confirmed closer to the event.

As a guide, please note that events usually finish by 11pm at the latest.
