LSO Discovery Day: Bartók

Bartók

Attend a morning LSO rehearsal at the Barbican conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, featuring Bartók's Music for strings, percussion and celeste.

This is followed by an afternoon talk at LSO St Luke's with Jonathan Cross, Professor of Musicology at Oxford University's Christ Church, and a chamber music performance.

10am–1pm 
LSO rehearsal at the Barbican conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, rehearsing Bartók’s Music for Strings Percussion and Celesta and Bruckner’s Symphony No 6 for that evening's performance.

2.30–5pm 
Join musicologist and engaging speaker Jonathan Cross at LSO St Luke’s as he explores the influence of Hungarian folk music on Béla Bartók. The afternoon also includes performances of Bartók chamber music by Fellows of the Music Academy of the West.
