Fate

London Schools Symphony Orchestra

Elena Urioste sitting by window with violin

Two works wrought by the constant suffering of their composers; the overture to Verdi’s opera exploring themes of fatalism and destiny and Tchaikovsky’s most tragic and haunting final symphony.

Richard Farnes, recent winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society Conductor of the Year Award, leads London’s premier youth orchestra in a programme navigating the anguish and destruction of two of the Romantic era’s most popular works.

Barber’s Violin Concerto forms the centrepiece for the concert, with its soulful second movement played by Elena Urioste.
