Into India

A Barbican Library Foyer Exhibition

Elephant family on the move painting by Susan Sands

Painter and printmaker Susan Sands presents a vivid visual diary of her travels in India.

Born in India, painter/printmaker Susan Sands' attachment to and interest in the country of her birth is renewed by regular visits, particularly to a village school in Tamil Nadu where, sketchbook in hand, she is able record rural life at the simplest level.  Her work draws from the whole spectrum of images that India presents, fascinated by the wild life, the richness of the decorative art, but perhaps principally by the people themselves.
