Human Rights Watch Film Festival returns for its 22nd edition, offering fresh perspectives and critical insights on human rights concerns impacting people around the world.
In a year where women collectively raised their voices against discrimination and abuse, this edition of the festival spotlights strong women who push back against powerful forces within their respective societies, as well as covering resistance movements from Ferguson to Liberia, and exposing worlds usually closed to the public eye.
As always, there are discussions after each screening with filmmakers, protagonists, Human Rights Watch researchers, and activists, and you are invited to come and ask questions and to further engage with topics covered in each film.
Throughout our 2018 The Art of Change season, we’ll be considering topics including whether art and artists really can bring about change. We asked a group of artists one question: can art make a change? Interestingly, not everyone agreed…
