Oscar® Week 2018: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (15)

'How come, Chief Willoughby?' Frances McDormand in Three Billboards

Frances McDormand is on exceptional form in this new award-winning drama from Martin McDonagh (Seven Psychopaths, In Bruges).

McDormand plays Mildred Hayes, a tough and complicated woman, whose teenage daughter was violently killed close to home. Fed up of the underwhelming police investigation, Mildred puts up three provocative billboards that creates ripples through the town, and forces Chief Willoughby (Woody Harrelson) to look at the case anew.

By turns shocking, touching and very funny in places, Three Billboards features McDonagh’s characteristically sharp writing, with added layers of depth and feeling.

Sterling support comes from Sam Rockwell as an exceptionally dim-witted fellow police officer, along with Lucas Hedges, Peter Dinklage, Clarke Peters, Abbie Cornish, Caleb Landry Jones and John Hawkes.
