Insula Orchestra: Beethoven and Farrenc

Conducted by Laurence Equilbey

A picture of Laurence Equilbey conducting

A celebration of the chamber and orchestral music of Louise Farrenc, from an orchestra whose mission is to explore.

The music of the French composer Louise Farrenc won praise from Berlioz and Schumann, but only in the 21st century are we truly discovering her ardently romantic, strikingly original voice. Laurence Equilbey and Insula orchestra make passionate champions.

Farrenc’s stormy Third Symphony is a fitting celebration for International Women’s Day - and at 6pm, ticket holders also have a chance to hear some of her chamber music, performed by players from Insula orchestra. Then three charismatic young soloists join forces in Beethoven’s Triple Concerto. Farrenc has nothing to fear from the comparison.
